The Mecklenburg County Commission unanimously voted to fight the state's decision to reassign supervision of the county's Medicaid money to an outside agency.

On January 8, 2013, Dan Bishop and Todd Capitano met with county commissioners to discuss the state's recent decision to put oversight of Medicaid funds into a Kannapolis-based company, despite Mecklenburg County hiring 143 employees to oversee the funds.  The dispute involves oversight of $200 million in federal Medicaid money, $20 million in county, and $15.3 million in state money.  The County has engaged the law firm to dispute the state's decision.
