Dan Bishop represented Mecklenburg County against the State of North Carolina in a dispute over who would supervise millions of dollars in Medicaid and state funding. On February 15, 2013, the N.C. Health and Human Services Secretary Aldona Wos ruled that supervision of the funds would stay with the county-run MeckLINK Behavioral Healthcare. The decision reversed an earlier decision taking the supervision away from Mecklenburg County and giving it to a Kannapolis-based private company. The decision saved more than 240 jobs for Mecklenburg County.
