J. Daniel Bishop

Dan has 24 years experience litigating business and local government controversies:

  • business owner and management disputes
  • employment contract and statutory claims, including noncompetes and wage claims
  • unfair competition, business-related frauds and negligence, including FINRA arbitrations and professional malpractice
  • contract matters, including buy-sells, real estate and business-entity transactions and brokerage, insurance coverage, and interlocal and government/private contracting

Dan's experience is broad and deep, and he strives above all to be a versatile and skillful business litigator, aggressive and innovative on behalf of the firm's clients.  Those attributes -- and actual jury trial and appellate advocacy experience, in state and federal court -- help produce optimal outcomes in commercial disputes.

Dan regularly appears in the state and federal trial and appellate courts of North Carolina, especially the North Carolina Business Court, as well as in arbitral forums.

Fellow North Carolina lawyers have voted Dan to Business North Carolina's "Legal Elite" 11 times.  Dan has been selected by "Super Lawyers" nine times and appears in the peer-selected 2013 and 2014 Best Lawyers.
